A Bronze Tailed Plumeteer feasts on Nectar. I wanted to capture the speed and franticness of the Hummigbirds movements and so set my camera up on this flower on a slower shutter speed (1/40s) After many attempts I captured this image. Canon EOS5D MKIV, EF500mmf50 ISII USM. ISO5000

A Resplendent Quetzal returning to it's nest to feed its young after foraging for avocado. The Quetzals nest in holes in dead tree trunks. In the San Gerado de Dota area of Costa Rica the local farmers are encouraged to not chop down dead trees for firewood to make more nesting areas for quetzals . I visited one of these farms and set up my camera on the nest then waited patiently all morning for the bird to leave and return. The birds fly in quite quickly so a camera that shoots 12 frames a second was essential.CAMERA/TECH SPECIFICATIONS: Canon EOS 1DX, EF 500mm f/4.0L ll USM, 1/6400 @ f/8, ISO 1600
